Everyone loves a parade.

Hello, Darlings. As previously posted, something funky is lodged in my main machine and refuses to leave . I got halfway through wiping the drive before realizing that this would be the first time wiping and reformatting any sort of hardware and had to go lie down. I am about halfway through the whole stinkin' mess. ____________ I spent Saturday down in the South Bay with Mom; she insisted we bike down to the 52 nd Annual Prentiousville Parade . It was everything a small, entitled parade should be. We hung out with the nuns by the library and they patiently endured my commentary on the alluring quality of well fitting kilt hose. (Sister Mary Gene is a riot.) Parade Highlights: The Cuczucca Drill Team; There is nothing like a tribe of macho Italians in wife-beaters and pajama pants wielding yard-long squashes and attempting to dance in rhythm. Here's evidence: The Shriners and Knights of Columbus totaled less than ten members and the liveliest of which will never see the south-...

Hallo, Harry Winston!

Robbers in drag get millions in Paris jewel theft (AP) I will cop to as being fond of the twinkly-sparkly as the next girl (although baby camel/silk blend roving would keep me warmer and more occupied). Paris can be quite nice if you avoid the dog poo. Heists make the very best movie plot s . Drag? I loooove drag although some of my male neighbors in Seattle looked better in my clothes than they ought. But what I really want is to see this made into a movie staring Jason Statham .

The lovely and bountiful Miss Alisha Jun e of the Thursday Night Needlework and Anarchy Society has gone and got married at City Hall in San Francisco in her own knitted-beaded-Kid Silk Haze wedding dress. With Alisha's unexplainable addiction to " Crack Silk Haze " she is easily one of the funniest people I've met in California and can make the most divine pistachio macaroons that leave her Knitting Circle moaning. SweetFace: Congratulations to you, your new husband and Loki. _ AnnaJ from the Netherlands created the fornicating deer mitten pattern. Instant hit. (The soundtrack for this post is Gaye's "Let's Get It On", the live from London version.) _ Coolest thing seen today: The Pocket Wheel fits in a shopping bag. Don't you love it when medieval technology gets rethought? It's Rilke's birthday: go seduce someone. Foodrunners.org gets a story on NPR !

Figglety Bits.

Cartoonist and blogger Niemann does a brilliantbit on his coffee addiction . (nyt.com) Tonight's plate: osso bucco with "young beef", not veal from the Temescal Farmers' Market. It's a much bigger shank and much darker in color. Braising is a godsend: tasty food made ahead. Currently mid-scarf for Mindy. The blue handspun yarn has stopped fighting back. Over the last month, I have spent a cummulative five hours on the phone with United Behavioral Health, trying to unfuck my mental healthcare policy. Try unfucking something. Like my darling stripper friend Dana would say, "Trying to tell me what to do is like teaching a dog to drive: It's very time consuming and it just annoys the dog." Funny girl, that one. Oh, Bother.

I am currently having some technical difficulties with the Leiderhosen Box. Some nefarious script has climbed in and is refusing eviction. Three skeins of Jo Sharp Aran in midnight has been procured for the Mindy Hat of Doomy Doom Doom. Totally awesome mail day, A lovely tin of cookies showed up from MNMom and The Identifiable Michael G! The gingerbread is the best ever! Thanks, Margaret and Michael! The puncture wound is finally healing up nicely.

Five short bits

My favorite Holiday is that Nameless Friday after Thanksgiving. I love that. If it a drinkable liquid I've knocked it over at least twice in the last two days. I've just spun my first ounce of angora rabbit, working on producing the most fluffy odd yarn as possible. It was tricky but very fun so now Etsy must come up with more materials . (Click the link for pictures of fluffy bunnies and their babies.) No rabbits die in the production of angoa fiber, particularly the privately owned and coddled variety from Etsy owners. Instead the rabbits are massaged and loose locks are plucked. Now doesn't that sound like the sweet life? We ran out of cat sand. And Vitamin B (essential for avoiding Alzheimer's, apparently) . This made an immediate trip to Costco and Target unavoidable. Both: very, very quiet; even quieter than a weekday. Steven just finished reading The Ghost Brigade aloud. - sniff! --
