Occupant

Ah. Garrison takes on the Nazis , refers to the GWB as "Current Occupant". I have loved Keillor (and his face made for radio) since spending a mere five bucks to attend a reading of his in Seattle's Town Hall. While monologuing, he fluffed up a few very large ferns, rearranged the podium, moved his stool twice and fussed about with his water glass without once using and derivation of "umlikeyaknowwhatever" once. Very much a storyteller in motion, what would he do on a completely empty stage? Then he led the audience in a quietly toned "Shall the Circle Be Unbroken" which is enough to unglue me entirely.

Morning thoughts

A tip of the cap to Mindy-O-Rama, as I am stealing her idea today. (Allright, maybe no cap, but I do have the ever-present hair elastic to shoot across the room. (I can't think with hair in my face. There is a lot of it.) 1. Oooo. Seasonal Produce Map from Epicurious . 2. Best. Cartoon. Evah. 3. An article on the Steampunk Movement. Must remember to tell Jess. 4. Craving new lipstick in a very bad way. I put on some Bobbi Brown today to find it rancid. Ew. 5. Relief. May is almost over and it did not sucketh. No more weddings or travel for a while. 6. Shakespearean Pie (too goddamn funny.) 7. Bay to Breakers , inciting SF wackiness since 1912. Maybe next year. 8. Maybe the baths on Sunday. -scrub*scrub*scrub- 9. The Unclutterer website. 10. Compulsively checking the craiglist rss feed for SF Housing.

Update

Lady M is in the Leiderhosen residence! Can someone tell me who beat this girl with the Pretty Stick in her five years in exile in Iowa?! Dang, she was cute before but this is ridiculous. She is a swell girl and it's very nice to have her around. Please send all your good vibrations her way so that she finds the perfect place to rent in S.F. I am not kidding. I am busy recovering my workload, but the Steven and skived off on Tuesday and watched the new Indiana Jones movie which I liked very much. The older couple behind us had to be shushed, but as we've waited the best part of two decades for this movie I did not feel apologetic.

Home home home home

lalalallalaaaaah! BART from SFO is terribly conveniently esp. when hauling a bag the size of a bank vault. 6.5 hour flight from Boston. Crap: Despite major amounts of sunblock SPF 70 and a blue silk parasol, I ended up with some sunburn. The wedding was spectacular, and that does not even start to cover it. The bride was utterly lovely in her turquoise sari and Scott was divine in a very elegant Indian suit with embroidery details. I will follow up with the full story later, but for now this: Maine is really pretty, the trip wasn't dreadful at all and, gosh, it's nice to be back. Lots of snuggly time with Taite.

Still Trapped in Maine

Dang, it's pretty here. Everyone here is particularly nice and refreshingly normal. They tax blueberries here, special! More after Monday. Love y'all. Be well

The End of the Week.

To celebrate the recent triumph striking down the California ban on gay marriage, Jessica and I pondered aloud that now we could actually marry one another, agreeing that with enough Nutella and banana crepes she can be talked into just about anything. Such a darling girl. Personally, I think she's holding out for Tina Fey. Or Gavin Newsom. Or handsome man Dan, who is quite the catch. It's bloody fucking hot here. 99, 98 degrees in a UCB building that does not believe in funding air conditioning. Graduate students swoon into sweaty fitful naps and grown people spray each other with misters as a way of greeting as if they were rare fragile orchids passing one another in the hallways. I am now packing for "vacation": a week in Maine with my parents and siblings, all to celebrate the marriage of my youngest and dearest brother to the world's most incredible girl Sarah. Sunday, red eye. I have Valium, but only enough for plane travel, not enough for the whole week. Sc...

California rules on gay marriage

At last! Something to make me very, very happy . May doesn't suck so badly after all.
