What 60K crazy costumed running people look like from Hayes Hill

Image
A live band played on top of Hayes Hill encouraging the runners up, up, up as the dreadlocked San Francisco courtesans threw mardi gras beads from their studio apartment windows and beer and cocktails were openly swigged on the sidewalks. The light was bouncy and the weather was perfect. I could tell when an old nudist (and they were all old men) was passing as Steven muttered "Oh dear God..." every single time. Thankfully these naked guys all sported shoes, socks, fanny pack, sunglasses and hat. Hopefully sunscreen. I reckon the fanny pack would be if their ass actually fell off mid-race, they'd have somewhere to stash it. More photos? Go here . I love this city.

I Hella (heart) Oakland.

I slept in until Noon this morning. I never sleep in until Noon. Today's vision: A rather lovely young blonde woman who had the words "Mental Mise en Place" tattooed around her neck in gloriously elaborate three-eights of an inch high script in a curving arc connecting her collarbones . It seemed a rather stupid thing to read in looking at her, while mourning the loss of some really nice, blank clavicles . Pity. The Spinning habit is now officially out of control. I had to just get that off my chest. Thank you. Spectaculaly lovely today in Oakland sur la Mer and tomorrow we brave the chaos of the Bay 2 Breakers Run to go the Spa in Japantown for scrubbing and soaking. We have tickets for Pirates next weekend. Can hardly wait. Argh!

Welcome to Your Friday

It's the Bay to Breakers race this weekend! A San Francisco institution, described here by the talented Keith Knight of the K Chronicles. If you still have a Halloween costume lying around, join the Drunken Elvises at the tail end of the race. Yahoo! Why was I awakened at 5:45 AM this morning? What did I do wrong? can't quite figure it out. frank the Garden Lark has been mysteriously quiet these last two days. Maybe he's got himself a girl... I had Brenna at ETSY work up some of the roving I had stashed away that I did not feel that I had the ability yet to spin up properly. She did the most amazing job. absolutely fantastic .

Thursday, Already?

I woke up yesterday with the hairstyle I have not seen since my high school senior portrait. Frightening, really. The Lost season conculsion is immenent! What a great season. And may I please have Henry Ian Cusick for Christmas? The man is breathtaking. Today is the officemate's birthday and I have cupcakes (yellow with chocolate frosting and the requisite spinkles) to frost.

Another bad idea.

Berkeley's latest brilliant plan to crack down on homelessness: Ban the homeless from smoking on sidewalks. Right, guys. Brilliant. That'll work. Today I need to bake cupcakes for Nancy's upcoming birthday. Nancy is my officemate. She's mighty nice and she knits.

Why I don't intend to ever own a house.

Remember how I said something about moving closer to my family was a good thing? I today was spent trimming hedges: 285 square suburban yards of them. When I was problem solving a problem Da was having on his laptop (has noooo clue how to run it, but he does get snaps for trying), the silly old coot turned on me and said the following: "So what's with the double chin?" And I said, "Well, the original was lonely. And by the way, fuck off." He laughed like it was the funniest thing he'd ever heard. Mum was hooting from the kitchen. And not with any subtlety . Love her, love her. Guilty. No yoga classes in a very long time (where would one find one as charming as Jaime and the 7:00 AM crew?), I've been avoiding the gym (crowded with students and not kept up) and the elliptical machine. My pants don't fit right and I have to fit into the last year's summer wardrobe. There is no alternative, no easy way out on this. Still nice to tell the misogyn...

Ahoy!

Damn! I am being guilted in updating. Madame Ordover of CraftLit has mentioned this blog. Oh, and Heather, you lovely creature? I want to hear about the haunting of your Roman apartment. You can't just leeeeeeave me hanging! We are well; The antiquated cats are still alive, the Hippo is remployed with good peoples, and I am anticipating some really evil hot California weather which I had a taste of earlier this week. It's May! Godamn May! Coo. Love you all.
