A little more Palin-Bashing

I am so happy that in this time of fiscal distress we have an election to keep us diverted. What would we do without the stereotypes to mock? Comedienne Sara Benincasa has started a Palin Vlog which is exceedingly funny. I found this link on Judith Warner' article "Poor Sarah" NYT political blog. Steven has drawn the line at televised statements. I am allowed to scream "Judas" whenever Libermann shows up on screen, but he draws the line at food throwing, esp. anything with salad dressing.

Oh, man...

That sexy codger Paul Newman has -gosh darn it- gone and died. I'm sure you've heard, but this news is enough to send me back to bed to stare at the ceiling. One thing is for sure: now there are practical jokes in heaven. Thanks, Paul.

Not Dead Yet.

The sore throat turned into a cold that turned into something perfectly evil. My skull seems to have been replaced by an anvil which someone keeps pounding on. On the upside, I've found my puppy .

It's a beautiful thing...

The Alaskan Women Against Palin Rally turned out to be the biggest rally in the state of Alaska's history. Minnesota Mom brought this to my attention and then exploded in a very elegant way . Forty-three more days to go. The sore throat has turned into something a little more sinister. Ew.

Up at 4 AM with a busy, angry mind.

I think I may be sporting a sore throat. This cannot be good. Special Olympics cross country practice was held yesterday at Rancho San Antonio , which could be the most beautiful place ever. We saw a flock of wild turkeys, five deer, all the farm animals including the barn cat and a very, very pregnant sow. There was a bit of a fiasco at the end where one of the athletes' rides did not arrive until 45 minutes late. He was quite upset, in a foot-stomping restrained-yelling kind of way, but Mum and I stayed until a cab finally showed up for him. As glad as I am for services for the members of the team, watching services fail is very disappointing.

It's dusk. It might rain.

Yes, it makes perfect sense to carry one's antiquated cat around the house in a Snuggli carrier. Doesn't everyone? (purrrprrrrpurrrprrrrurrr she says.) Steven is out having drinks with the girls, while I have the house and cat to myself.

Political Polling...

... makes me very nervous. Should you want to know how I spend my time on the web: Ravelry Epicurious NYT.com and now: FiveThirtyEight.com The Steven and I went out to Caesar's on Piedmon t last night and ordered a big plate of chacuteria to share and some spiffy drinks in fancy glasses. I had a martini made with fennel which immediately washed two weeks worth of coffee out of my soul. Nothing says happiness like munching dry cured meats from your fingers in very dim light. There was a pate with rabbit, garlic and nutmeg that was like baloney from heaven.
