What the WHAT?!

8,000 handknit free scarves needed for SuperBowl Volunteers.

Horrors.
I've just sent an unnecessary post card to these people.
" You must be kidding. I'll put this in my knitting queue... right behind every premature infant, the low income families in need, the homeless (domestic and international), the chemo patients and... every child for the next twenty years in the Oakland and San Francisco Childrens' Hospitals.
In a word: No. "

The Indianapolis and NFL wants my labor and yarn? Gah...

Good for you! That is a shameless request.

Can't believe the NFL is begging for charitable donations. Does this make them look poorer on the eve of their "labor" negotiations with the players union?

I hope you really sent them that message. That's disgusting coming from a franchise with all the freaking money in the world
Oh, good: it's not just me this appalling.

Knitterati and all around good bloke Franklin Habit originally got the request. He sent back a more kindly decline, adding:

"Given the penchant of the NFL for promoting and supporting anti-gay stereotypes and sentiment, if I'm not welcome in the stadium they can do without my yarn, too."

Go, Franklin!
