Buzzzzzzzzzz

Dozens of Freds at the feeder today and they seem to be mostly female, which makes me wonder if the daddies have to sit home on the eggs. Seeing as the little buggers are so territorial, I can't see how they'd actual get past that impulse to actually hook up.

Distracted.

As a present The Steven has bought me an iphone and just setting up the damn thing is proving to be quite the Time Suck. Gaahhhh. Outside, it's more than lovely. It's officially Big Fuckoff Hat season. I found two so enormus that they make me look like a toadstool. Thankfully I am beyond caring. Also a requirement: SPF 70 and parasols. (This season I have 2 left; One was offered to Jules' father's girlfriend who had just move to Las Vegas. Parasols are absolutely necessary if one is anywhere near Las Vegas providing shade and personal space.) This evening I get to pick Mom up at SFO and drive her back to Pretentiousville after ten days of Catholic Charity Vacation in South America. As far as I can recall this is her first independant vacation so it will be interesting to hear how her visit to the leper colony was. (She was very excited about this.)

Bouncing Back with the Friday Brain Dump

The Muse, some various lesser nocturnal gods, my landlady, work demons in general, myself, a flu bug and the weather have all been at odds this last month. That is my excuse for recent radio silence. Happy Birthday, Scott! (mmmmmwah!) Dad turned 74. Still the very definition of his own crotchety self, he is oddly more open to entertaining relationships and a wide distribution of citrus fruits. Although this is a little baffling to his family, we suspect it's because we can outrun him even though he still cheats at cards. I have discovered what a stoat is and it's nothing like I thought it was. Still plenty cute. Mincing Mockingbird continues to produce some of the best titles for artwork ever. He can paint some hostile looking sparrows. He has an amusing art blo g as well. Jess and Dan get married in 60 days! This will be all very exciting, once Jessica's pretty shoes arrive. The Steven and I celebrated our approximate fourteen years of The Royal Caffeine Theatrical So...
Loved: Reign Over Me, Man on Wire and the Tivo/Netflix combination! Love! Did not Love: Twilight. It's rare that commentaries disappoint, but this one? Just a bunch of stoned teenagers sitting around talking. Five minutes was all I could take. Next up: Milk. There is a rumor of a Three Stooges movie and Sean Penn has signed on. I hate the Stooges. Spring ! The allergies are kicking my ass, the Lilies of the Valley growing in the shower seem happy. Spinning: For the last two weeks everything has been a mid-tone of bluepurplebluepurple. Tonight we are going for something completely different.

Sunday as Tourist in the Mecca for Fools

from left to right: Coit Tower, Transamerica, Fisherman's Wharf, Maritime Museum downfront: homegrown fool Alcatraz in the background. Great day for sailing, fantastic sunset approaches! Fool Who Needs Martini on the Powell Line Cablecar, on the outside left, two bars back between Hispanic Newlyweds and retired Swedish Tourists. 8:20PM, Union Square.

Monday in the End of March.

Apparently The Bay Area had an earthquake in the last hour, a 4.3 . I missed it, but seeing as it was grounded 50 miles south that's not unusual. I've been a bit low this month: so many talented people can't find work, housing in jeopardy, the panicked and insane landlady's behavior , various "unique" California states of mind which I have yet to figure out. I want us all to be well. I want us all to be happy. Preferably on my porch with a glass of prosecco as I force pork products on you. I've sworn of scotch (but not cider) until this monkey's funk passes. Let it be soon. To pull myself out of this funk, I've started a pair of mad lacy fuchsia socks. Since Jessica's socks are notoriously complicated, the game has to be stepped up even if it require four charts, five needles and Norwegian translation. His Majesty Rameses made an appearance again today at the Dwight/Shattuck bus stop. He had a long white linen tunic and a very large ankh and l...

Excuses for Radio Silences.

I am: really trying not to panic, work-wise. hoping to avoid any public demonstration of distress. hip-deep in yarn, both my own creations and the commercially available. Must resolve. I will be back very soon. Keep writing those blogs. I am reading.
