On the Google feed: The Daily Puppy . Amused/tempted by: ThinkGeeks Kitchen Gadgets . Anything but the R2D2 peppergrinder. Musing on a poem from this week on the Writer's Almanac: A Quiet Life . An ode to the perfect egg, I love this line: "And salt-a miracle of the first order, the ace in any argument for God. Only God could have imagined from nothingness the pang of salt." Particularly annoyed by: Asshat extraordinare Scott McClellan , who is on everyone's talk show this week. This stupid fucker, when confronted on his own guilt by association and lack of action, hems and haws and giggles uncomfortably. Did he expect some other response? To Do List: get the bike fixed, check on the library book fine accrued. Berkeley Eccentric Du Jour : Homeless black dude across the street from Starbucks, disrobing slowly a verbally advertising his "services". Last purchase : a double latte, two raw sugars. Latest Annoyance : ongoing inability to access my...

Whoa!

Huge, mondo, glorious find: Paper theaters ! Twenty-two fun-filled pages of them!

Tuesday

Craving: another hit off the Color Bong . (Like I need more wool in my life...) yummmm: Folly Jo I! Latest tasty thing: angelfood cake. I find the burnt sugar smell of Angel food cake divine, forgetting that angel food cake really just a byproduct of homemade ice cream. Stupid Thought: Bama-bama-Obama-Fee-fi-O-Fama! Weather: Crazy ass gorgeous outside. Very few students as it's summer break. Lady M should be installed in her castle! Ben is on his way! Yahoo!

Morning, Sweetness.

7:51 AM thoughts at work: A tweeky contact lens Residual vacation cleanup needed Packing up the cashmere for the summer Loving the new wide monitor at work. I started a new shawl. It's an amazing shade of orange with a large leaf motif. Still sleepy. Three grant progress reviews this week. Desperately behind from vacation. The Steven's got a new gig; I hope it works out. We haven't played catch yet this year. Six months till Christmas. Crap.

Note to YSL in Heaven

Thanks for the tuxedos, Baby. Evening trousers were genius; if it baffled gender relations even further, we actually got through it. The liberation from the party wear of uncooperative support pantyhose and poofy icky dresses is on par with bra burning and the banishment of inhumane corsetry. From someone who has not entirely soberly hung upside down on monkey bars at 2 AM after a fancy dress up party, the state of my underwear remained privileged information and a grateful world should thank you. Thank for unleashing some wearable glamour into the 1970s. Otherwise it might have been a decade of complete disaster. The Sunday Night Thoughts

Clean floors and bare feet. The smell of night air. A raise in rent (again). De-nepping a merino silk blend (in unlikely lavender). If I had any idea how much math was required in spinning, I might not have started it. Too late now. The Lost season finale. Oh, that Desmond is fiiiiine. Now explain how did Sawyer get a full body wax on the island. Suspecting the cat of very naughty behavior, but have not located proof. Aubrey hair goop is fantastic, but it does have a tendency to spoil within a couple months. I keep mine in the refrigerator, next to the pomegranate molasses. Darling Jeff from the Fourth Floor is movin' in with his girl this weekend. I want to buy them a shiny red toaster. And I think he ought man up and tell his ma, but that's not my affair.

Sunday Morning Thoughts

The sounds of birds in trees all twittering, "Hey, Baby! Baby?! Where ya goin', Baby?". CA is what some songwriter must have had in mind for the phrase "sunshiney day". Where is the mop? I should really care. Possible upgrade for sewing machine. The kitty is very old. I miss my sister. Not thinking about the full work week ahead. Scheduling a nap for later. Am in the mood for some Saki short stories.
